Yankee girl in Arthur's court

You can't appreciate home till you've left it, money till it's spent, your wife till she's joined a woman's club, nor Old Glory till you see it hanging on a broomstick on the shanty of a consul in a foreign town. O. Henry Porter 1862-1910, American short-story Writer

The time has come to say Goodbye

It's been a rollercoaster ride of a visit...From yelling and pushing each other one minute, to laughing and chasing each other the next. This morning Lexie busied herself 'cleaning' with a scrap of toilet paper. She came down stairs wiping them as she went. Of course Ethan announced that he wanted to clean too...doesn't matter what it is...if one is doing it, then the other atomatically takes an intense interest. When all is said and done, it's been quite a lot of fun...Feeding the ducks, puddle splashing, tea parties, and picnics in the park just won't be the same without you, Ethan:)

Little cuzzins

My tired old brain can't quite manage to come up with a witty post, (we can't all be award-winning, crowd drawing bloggers...haha) but I thought a little something was better than nothing...There's so much stuff to write about, with 2 two year olds in the house, that it's hard to know where to begin. Here's a random little incident to report: Ethan gets very excited about throwing Lexie's plastic ball out back. A couple times now, he has heaved it over into the neighbor's 'garden'. The first time it happened, Lexie said "Get the stool, Daddy", so he could go retreive it...

The Fisherman's Friend is My Friend too...

There's an awful virus going around at the moment, which I have fallen prey to... Chills, body aches, and sore throat....Usually the sore throat part of a cold goes in a day or 2, but I've had this wretched pain since Tuesday, and no let up. Anyway, thankfully I live a hop, skip and a jump away from what is known here as the chemist, or to be more precise...this particular one is called a dispensing chemist or in American English...a drugstore. So, today I went and got myself some ibuprofen, vitamin C, and at the last minute...noticed a pkg of Fisherman's friend cough drops as I was about to make my other purchases. I've never liked that particular brand as it's so powerful it's enough to make my nose hairs stand to attention. You know something is pretty wrong though, when it tastes sooo good you could go for a few more. Here's to you, fishermen, for having friends like this..

Hallelujah, hallelujah, we're going to....the zoo?

Earlier this evening Lexie had been playing in the 'gah-den' as she says (not yard), and was singing and shouting her own little concoction of a song. It was a mix of Raffi and Andre Crouch. "Hallelujah, hallelujah, we are going to the zoo!" Zoo being substituted for "We're going to see the King."

Hat watching...

The big news here this wkend, has been the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla. TV coverage began about 12 noon on Saturday and went until almost 3pm. Because I was going to be out, I recorded it so I could catch it later... Despite what I think about Charles and Camilla getting married, I found it fascinating to watch the gala affair. Fun to see all the royals, and celebs arriving in their 'posh' frocks and all the outlandish and exotic looking hats. It's very common for ladies to wear hats to weddings here, and so for an occasion like this, you can imagine there were some interesting ones. Anyway, it was worth watching just to see them, at least I thought it was....

"What sha'mee do, Mama"?

Today Lexie announced to me that Daddy was her best friend. "We be silly together", she said. Almost every day she seems to be adding something new to her repoitoire of phrases. Recently she's been asking "What's that"? One phrase that can strike fear into the hearts of mothers of young children is "Mom, what can I do, I'm bored?". In Lexie's case, the exact phrase is "What sha'mee do, Mama?" although she now has progressed to "What shall I do?" A toddler's work is never done...

Day of small things

Hello all you blogger junkies! I may have found a new hobby that will keep me up even later than my current bedtime hour of midnight. I can only wonder and wait to see if this blogfad continues, but in the meantime I guess I can't let my little sisters outdo me with their clever sites ...haha.
