Yankee girl in Arthur's court

You can't appreciate home till you've left it, money till it's spent, your wife till she's joined a woman's club, nor Old Glory till you see it hanging on a broomstick on the shanty of a consul in a foreign town. O. Henry Porter 1862-1910, American short-story Writer

Animal, Mineral, or Vegetable?

Animal, Mineral, or Vegetable?

Lexie and I had a good giggle after she attached this pink tail (her doll's boa) to Arthur, and he waddled obliviously around.

It's a bird, it's a plane??!

Do I detect a Picasso style emerging? It does look very modern art-ish
anyway. We'll never know what this creature is...

Lexie said this was me, so I will try to be greatly flattered....What long eyelashes I must have....

What follows is a series from little Miss artiste Lexie. I am a bit
bewildered at the most recent style, as it appears rather disturbing. A bit of pent up aggression emerging, perhaps? Oh to enter the mind of a toddler....

Thank you, Aunt Claire!

Charli-dolls all round!

Come on kids, crack a smile! It's a charli-doll, not a ghost! Aunt Claire very thoughtfully sent these two specimen(s)-can that be used plurally?? and what a thoughtful gesture it was...Both Arthur and Lexie promptly commenced shaking them....And I enjoyed knowing that they didn't know what was inside.....yet:)

Prayer melts things..or chip, chip, chipping at heaven's door

Today after months of procrastination, I defrosted my freezer. It seemed like such a huge mountain of a chore to contemplate, but when it came right down to it, was actually quite simple and relatively unmessy. It hadn't been done since we moved, and that's about 3 years now. What a great thing to cross of my mental "to do" list.
As I was poking and prodding ice burgs (ha ha) and steaming and mopping etc..I couldn't help but think about how the defrosting process is a lot like praying...praying for change that seem impossible, praying about something that feels discouraging to even contemplate, or keep asking for, again and again. It took a lot of steam, and a lot of drips, before the cold, inpenatrable build-up of frost, turned into broken chunks, and then.....but finally... into nothing.

Lexie was having a bath the other night, and then I let her play awhile while I was in the other room. I came back in and this is what greeted me! It's a bath toy-they are foam letters that she put in the center of each tile, and most of them are right side up too! I was stunned! I think she's definitely got the creative gene....

He would say, Thanks, Uncle Andrew, for my t-shirt!
Andrew got this for Lexie when he was over there. I'm not sure how much longer Arthur will be able to fit into it, but I wanted to get a shot of this before it was too late. Andrew, you would be proud of your little nephew!

Spam rage

Anyone get lots of email spam? We have been inundated with it lately. The funny thing is that the recent batch of junk all have completely random, bizzarre titles, but thankfully the spam filter is catching it. One subject title said 'dude' -a clever disguise for spam as it sounds like it could be from a friend. Other subject titles include: gloom, inquisitive, jammed, stage fright, inaccurate, movable outpatient, Re: letter (very clever), gauge impeccably, fermentation local time, nourishing. Most of these have something to do with buying company stock I think....what rubbish.

Eye can't stand it any more!

Every time I check my blog, I cringe as I cast my eyes on my poorly aligned pics. I simply cannot seem to find out how to make them align left or center, and BIGGER than the current size. Can anyone help???

Back again, after a long absence...

I am a huge Ebay fan now. I can't be bothered to bid though--waste of time, money and energy. I just look for items under the 'Buy it now' label. My most recent bargain was 2 summer skirts for Lexie. They were less than 2 pounds (about 4 dollars) each including postage. The sender also threw in 2 tops for free--'a little something extra' as she said on her note. What fun!
